There will be a parliamentary briefing on Wednesday 26th February 5.30 – 6.30 pm in Committee Room 9. This briefing will be an unprecedented opportunity for MPs see some of the very concerning evidence that have been compiled regarding aspects of RSE and hear some very harrowing first-hand experiences from professionals, educators and parents.

Please encourage your MP to attend by either writing to her about the event or by going to see her, expressing your concerns and entreating her to hear first-hand the challenges our children will be facing. Please find below a letter from Sir Jeffrey Donaldson which you can forward to your MP.

There is very limited by space at this event but if you are successful in encouraging your MP to attend then do let THPA know whom you have invited and THPA can find out if she has replied in the affirmative.

Register below to have a united voice

Although we are aware that MPs’ time is very precious, knowing parents passion to give our children the very best we can provide in all aspects of their education, we have to do all we can to protect our children.  None of us want to be in the position, in 10 or 15 years’ time, for the next generation to turn around to us and say,

“Where were you?”

Why didn’t you stand up and do something?”

You can forward the letter below from Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP to your local MP:

Convenor:  Revd Lynda Rose

Dear Respected Colleague,

Relationship and Sex Education

Parliamentary Briefing, Committee Room 9,  February 26th 2020: 5.30 pm – 6.30 pm.

On behalf of the Education Working Party of the Lords & Commons Family and Child Protection Group (LCFCPG), I invite you to a Parliamentary Briefing concerning the way some schools are teaching and preparing to teach Relationships and Sex Education, which becomes mandatory for schools from September 2020.

Whilst the LCFCPG is encouraged that RSE is a necessity for this generation, in some cases RSE is being taken over by ideologues and special interest groups who wish to promote their own agendas which in a number of cases are leading to serious child protection and safeguarding issues.  We wish to alert Parliamentarians to the dangers involved and the potential increase in emotional, psychological and physical harms that are already arising due to the way RSE is being handled in some schools.  We will be providing you with an information pack nearer the time.

The meeting will be addressed by an expert panel, including teachers and parents with direct experience.

With best wishes,

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson MP

Dear MPs,

As a parent of two young girls and on behalf of other parents who are concerned regarding the compulsory RSE introduced into primary schools to consider this major step. The information for children may have a negative impact as they are very young and may not have abilities to process such an information. It may affect on their mental health and what next steps would be taken to prevent any harm to them. To understand such an issue certain level of maturity is necessary. Would this bring any benefit to them? I would like to kindly ask you to consider if it is necessary to introduce this compulsory sexual education in primary schools. Kind regards,

Aisha Handulle

Dear,MP
We as a parent we are NOT convinced that children at the age of 5,6,7,8 or even 9 need to have the RSE.In addition,it may harm them mentally and emotionally. This program is not fit for our community and our council. We are requesting from you to abolish RSE from Tower Hamlet’s schools.

Teaching a child as young as 5/6 years of age of which find it hard to understand simple concepts already part of the national curriculum should not be forced to learn RSE when kids at school were never taught how to do taxes or pass a job interview and if they want to learn about this then there family cant teach themselves or learn as an adult.

Dear mp please stop kids can’t pay alcohol until age 18 plus why not allow until they hit puberty I think they will confuse children so please stop this nonsense.

Dear MPs

Teaching RSE as young as 4 5 6 years old is un acceptable It will have very impact in their live it will damage morally . As apparent we are so worry what is going to happen if this go ahead because is too early to teach this subject for primary school. We hope our amp does something to stop.

Many thanks

RSE is not education for younger age 6 to 7 years old too early because they didn’t know about different it is much better to stop RSE.

Dear MPs,
Teaching RSE is not for children as young as 5 and 6 years old, it will affect them both morally and mentally. RSE should be taught if necessary at GCSE level. I would like you to attend the comms meeting about this topic and Express my concerns as a mother

REPLY

If the schools teach RSE in early age, curiously children will try to taste it among themselves in their homes and the worst results will be siblings will do RSE at home just to see whether it is good or not, but children don’t know whether they are siblings or not. As we know children’s brain are not fully grown. So it is not good to teach this at early age. When they grow they will know automatically.

Dear MPs

Teaching RSE is not for young children specially Primary students because they will confused and also is against their faiths

Where is free speech and Equality Act 2010. Why they want to learn children that. they should not focusing children learn RSE.
I respect them but not teaching our children.

If sexuality is so important and it should start early as 6/7 years…then teaching 6-7 year old finance i.e. credit cards, direct debits, interest rates need to be taught in-fact should be top before anything as some of the above will have some part to play in life from early age 9/10 years old when opening your bank account – unfortunately many people don’t understand as an example, interest (APR, AER, Base rate, compound etc) one of the reason why we have huge issue of debt in society.

So let us be real, teach real issues, issues that will affect a person most possibly their entire life or in some cases cost them their life.
